The Effect of High Surf and Wind
During the past 4 years, we have endured 4 very strong hurricanes; Ivan, Emily, the infamous Wilma and last of all Hurricane Dean. After each hurricane, we have worked very fast and hard to restore our villas and their corresponding grounds to their full beauty prior to the devastation. Mother Nature on the other hand, appears to work a little slower with regards to restoring our spectacular beach of Playa del Secreto at our north end. Until the prevailing ocean currents are able to completely restore and mold the sandy ocean floor to the norm prior to the hurricane damages, our beach directly in front of Hacienda del Secreto and Casa del Secreto will continue to vary in size from week to week. We are in hopes that we are almost there since the south end and the middle section of the more than one mile long beach at Playa del Secreto is now a wide beach with soft, white, powder sand all of the time. This restored wide part of the beach begins just 30 yards from Hacienda del Secreto and Casa del Secreto villas and is a very short walk to reach.
In less than a one week period the beach directly in front of the villas can go from a nice beach to very little or no beach and then back again to a nice beach with only minor changes in wave/wind direction. Unfortunately, we have no control over this situation. For those brief periods, where there is little or no beach directly in front of our villas until Mother Nature completes her work, there is always our remaining gorgeous, wide, mile long beach to the south just 30 yards away and. of course our "Secreto Beach Club".
Beach Services Available
If during your stay the beach directly in front of your villa is not as wide as you wish, our staff is more than happy to set up beach chairs, umbrellas, towels, boogie boards, sandcastle toys and ice chests for your enjoyment each day where the wide part of the beach begins and is permanent. We also have our private "Secreto Beach Club" adjoining our villas which is protected by a seawall and has a staircase down to the beach. Our beach club has authentic Mexican grass shade Palapas with beach chairs and hanging beds for napping, sunning, reading or just relaxing and enjoying the magnificent view of the turquoise ocean. For the more energetic, the beach club has volleyball, horse shoes, ping pong, a monster golf/tennis/baseball set, ocean kayaks for use, snorkeling gear. At our beach club or directly in front of your villa, our concierge can arrange for para-sailing rides or wave runners to be delivered for rent by the ½ hour or hour along with diving and snorkeling tours from one of the nearby by hotels here at Playa del Secreto.
