This is a prized location and a perfect setting for a vacation. The tropical ambiance of the Caribbean is in full force at Shangri La Caribe with quaint thatched roof buildings, two swimming pools, a proliferation of exotic plants and gardens, and paths that wind their way through it all, ultimately leading to the beach. The combined effect is very pleasing and colorful, and a welcome attitude adjuster for those coming from the concrete jungles of the north.
Restaurants, pools & facilities Shangri-La Caribe has a lot to offer. There are two restaurants, two swimming pools, a large palapa with ping-pong, pool tables and a swing bar, a pool side grill for lunch, a full service dive shop/ watersports center, a massage therapist, theme night entertainment, musical entertainment and more. Breakfast and dinner are included (lunch additional). Lunch can be served at the grill, on the beach or at pool side. Dinners are served in the big palapa restaurants (great atmosphere). Shangri-La has 24 hour security, in room safes, beach towels, daily maid service, bottled purified water, 120V electricity (US standard), and either garden or ocean/ pool view rooms. Telephone service is available and most rooms have AC. Ceiling fans are in every room.
Room options There are three areas, the "Caribe", the "Pueblito" and the "Aventura" (the Aventura section was formerly called the Playa section). The Caribe and Aventura sections have oceanfront cabanas. Please note that both areas are magnificent and expertly maintained with lush greenery and colorful tropicals. The Pueblito section is off the beach front. However, those rooms not directly on the beach are no more than a minute from the surf (click for resort map). Two pools insure plenty of room for guests and one has a built-in jacuzzi. The rooms' bedding options are listed below in the amenities section. All rooms are air conditioned and have a private bathroom with hot water and shower, colorful comfortable furnishings, a front porch or patio/terrace with hammocks and either garden, ocean (upper levels) or beach view.
