Maroma Resort Additional facts and information
More about Maroma Resort and Spa...
History, location, amenities & facilities

Located on a 25-acre site on the Riviera Maya, Maroma Resort and Spa is a rustically luxurious hideaway built in the tradition of the Mexican haciendas where personal service, warm hospitality and privacy are unsurpassed. This romantic hideaway is reputed to be among the finest resorts in Mexico. Opened in 1995, Maroma is nestled at the edge of an unspoiled stretch of beach on the Yucatan Peninsula, bordered by the world's second longest barrier reef, providing world-class SCUBA and snorkeling. The reef, allowing safe sea bathing in all weather conditions, protects Maroma's talcum, powder-like white-sand beach. Maroma's beach was named "Top Beach of the World's 10 Best Beaches" by the Travel Channel in March 2002.

Treasured for its residential feel, Maroma is among the most sought-after sites on the Riviera Maya. Its unspoiled beach and lush dense jungle provides the utmost in privacy and natural beauty. Maroma's idyllic natural setting, pristine beach, spacious well-designed rooms, as well as its unobtrusive service, draws sophisticated travelers from all over the world. In fact, British Prime Minster Tony Blair enjoyed a holiday at Maroma with his family during the summer of 2001.

Maroma's authentic Mayan design sensibility is evident throughout. Buildings, crafted by hand, feature interesting Mexican details such as stucco finishes, carved niches, hand-hewn beams and extensive wood and ironwork. Mahogany and leather furniture are designed and built on the premises. Landscaping is lush and varied.

Rooms- Open to the sea and shaded by swaying palms, the resort offers 58 rustically luxurious rooms. All are located in 2-3-story villas with thatched roof terraces nestled among lush tropical gardens. All guestrooms offer ocean or garden views, original art, hand-loomed bedding and rugs, terraces adorned with colorful hammocks, bamboo shutters, and CD players. Oversized bathrooms are resplendent with sunken tubs and hand-painted tiles.

Dining- Beachfront dining features ocean views with innovative cuisine. Guests enjoy delicacies of fresh seafood and regional dishes, as well as a selection of continental fare. Meals are artfully presented and served on an open-air terrace overlooking the ocean or in the elegant indoor dining room. Dinner features gourmet cuisine by candlelight. Special dietary requests can be accommodated. Al Fresco dining at the poolside cafe in the Aquarius area of the resort. Now the Maroma dining experience is now even more extraordinary.
