22 August 2007 - Hurricane Dean report Riviera Maya beaches of Tankah bay, Soliman bay, Aventuras Akumal Hurricane Dean took landfall on the Yucatan peninsula, Mexico around 1 or 2 A.M. on the morning of August 21. The eye came ashore in the vicinity of Mahahual, in the southeast part of the state in the area known as La Costa Maya. Dean was a catagory 5 hurricane traveling at 20+ miles per hour with 160 mph sustained winds.
