 Just three kilometers from the Palenque archaeological zone, Chan Kah is totally convenient to the ruins and is only a 10 minute drive from Palenque town center. The town has grown enough in recent years to provide most goods and services a traveler could need, however there is something to be said for peace and quiet in an excellent accommodation like Chan Kah, knowing that shopping is a short drive away. Chan Kan has been the premiere accommodation choice in Palenque for years.
Their massive lagoon style pool has three levels with spillways from one level to another. The beautiful river stone work creates the illusion of a natural blue pond, only much more user friendly. There are plenty of lounges to plop youself down on after a day of trekking the ruins, and their pool side bar service is a decadence not to be missed (they have an excellent bartender). If you're into R&R it would be tempting to stay here and not go anywhere, but there IS so much to see.
All rooms have air conditioning and all are just a few steps from the main pool via green paths like the one below in the photos. There are 73 casita one bedroom junior suites and 6 two bedroom suites (some 1 bedroom suites connect). All have AC, cable TV, phone, hot and cold water, private bathroom with shower and furnished exterior terrace.
The restaurant and bar area is very near the main pool. It is a daily routine to hear howler monkey from here during morning or evening twilight. Meals are excellent and the service is too. The table cloths give a touch of elegance to the wonderful tropical jungle setting, filled with tall coconut palms and broad leaf vines. A breakfast is included with your room reservations. the bar area is off the end of the restaurant and has inside and outside seating, TV for sports fans, and snack service from the restaurant. This is a fine spot to get started with an evening drink and then move into the restaurant for dinner. |
