Misol Ha - Waterfall near Palenque in Chiapas, Mexico

Close to Palenque

Misol Ha is a spectacular ±35 meter (115 ft.) waterfall that is a must see for visitors to the Palenque Chiapas region. There is a restaurant on site and plenty of parking, and we noticed some cabins, however we did not investigate whether these could be rented or not. Misol Ha is on the same road, and about 15 minutes from Agua Azul cascades. The jungle is lush here and a path leads a short distance to the falls.

Flow matters

When we visited the flow over the falls was quite low and so access to the back side of the falls was open. Under the overhang a trail leads to the far side and a small cave that goes back about 300 meters to a waterfall inside the cave. Even swimming in the surface pool is permitted during times of low flow, however when the rains come flow increases dramatically. To see Misol Ha in high flow just follow the links farther down the page. Anytime is a spectacular time to see Misol Ha, a sight not to be missed if you are in the area.

Misol Ha is approximately a 45 minute drive from Palenque and 15 minutes from Agua Azul cascades.
