This property is actually in Chemuyil on the Chemuyil jungle road, a few minutes from Xcacel beach. Akumal is about 15 minutes away. The Jungle Place is THE place to see spider monkeys up close and interact with them, with respect for the monkeys' right to enjoy their habitat, separate from humans. We do not have any toucan pictures because a male female pair in the cage would have been upset at the intrusion. However, there are several toucans in a large cage to see up close.

Just hanging out is a daily activity at The Jungle Place and one of the most fun things you're likely to do during your vacation. If you have ever been face to face with a spider monkey you may know how curious they are and that their mischievous behavior tends toward kleptomania. Suffice to say, anything that goes in the cage should be attached to you. Monkeys have thumbs and know how to use them, very quickly, and can open anything you can, and climb a tree in a flash. And even the most tranquil monkeys can bite if grabbed by a stranger. So be cool, have fun but be the smarter primate. Don't grab monkeys or try to snatch things back from them. Treat them with respect and follow the advice of the owners in order to have the magical experience you expect. These monkeys are the most tame we have ever been with, so in our opinion, The Jungle Place is the BEST place to interact with spider monkeys. Please note: Monkeys don't automatically like all people. The monkeys at Kuxi Kaax are particularly loving and gentle but they are not trained nor do they obey orders. The owners usually observe the monkeys' reaction to guests to see their reaction from the outside of the cage first, and observe the general health of visitors. People with aliments should not get too close to the monkeys. The monkeys' safety is a priority so visitors should be aware that they may not be able to just jump into the cage. A fairly prompt visit inside the cage may be allowed after observation.

¤ Groups are limited to five people or less at a donation cost of $30 usd/person which goes to the feeding and care of the monkeys and toucans. Visit length is up to one hour and includes a soft drink.

The bungalows are shown in the photos below including their latest accommodations. The bungalows are air conditioned and have ceiling fans, kitchen, living room, bathroom with shower. Also available is an Internet connection, 24 hour access. The bungalows are fully screened and the porches and terraces are open-air. This is a very nice accommodation in the jungle.

Four new bungalows are now available including one bungalow with a double bed and sleeper sofa for a child. The other bungalow has a double bed and a single bed. The third bungalow has one double bed and the fourth is a 2 story suite with king sized bed and loft area with 2 twin beds.
