Akumal Breakers is located in the gated residential community of South Akumal, a tranquil neighborhood of beach front homes that are among the finest on the Riviera Maya. Here your family can enjoy the luxury of an exquisite villa on a white sandy beach, all facing Mexico's blue Caribbean.
Inside Akumal Breakers the entrance foyer opens to the villa's main living space, with a modern fully equipped kitchen to the right, an ultra cool bar, dining area and living room straight ahead, and access to two bedrooms on the left. A wide open floor plan unifies this main living space into a large room, perfect for groups to enjoy. A pool and beach view can be seen from virtually anywhere in the main living space, making this area great for dining, entertaining and family activities. If a person with a walking disability is part of your group they won't have to climb steps to enter the living area or the beach bedroom. Although the villa is not officially ADA approved, a wheelchair can pass from the street to the living room via a gradually sloped concrete pathway (34 inches is the narrowest part). There is a custom wooden ramp to access the beach side bedroom as well as the dining area.
The kitchen has quality stainless steel appliances, travertine counter tops, a double stainless steel sink, six burner gas stove/oven, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, full cutlery and place settings for eight people, and a breakfast peninsula for informal meals.
The formal dining area is just off the kitchen with a solid mahogany table that seats six people in elegant style. Next to it is the bar for easy service to the main living space and it is a favorite gathering spot. It features an exotic back lit Onyx sink and Onyx tile (from Mexico) along with five bar stools.
The sunken living room is a couple of steps down from the dining room and has two very comfortable couches, ample tables and a slider to the pool and beach. This area is perfect for watching a late night movie from the entertainment center which includes a large flatscreen TV with SKY satellite service, DVD player and an Apple TV device all played through a Bose Wave / CD music system. There is a small library of DVDs and CDs available or you can wirelessly stream your own media from your iPhone, iPad or laptop using iTunes and the Apple TV. To the side is a second dining table for four with its own slider to the pool patio and beach. A colorful wall mural of the beach and sea reminds you of what is just outside, and the table also serves as a gaming table when desired.
There are four bedrooms, two on the main level and two on the upper level. The upper level bedrooms have one king size bed each, a private bathroom and a private ocean terrace. The oversized master suite also has a large reading chair overlooking the terrace and the beach. Below on the beach/pool level another ocean side bedroom has a king size bed, stained glass window to the pool, and glass slider to the pool and beach. The fourth bedroom is a garden side bedroom with two double beds on custom bamboo frames, large TV, Sony Play Station and a DVD player. This bedroom and the oceanfront bedroom share a full bathroom.
The pool, beach and observation deck are undoubtedly where you will spend much of your time. The pool is edged with limestone to mimic the cenotes (jungle oasis pools) of the Riviera Maya. It has a refreshing cascade/waterfall and bubbler system which will delight kids and adults alike. Jumping from the elevated "jumping rock" into the deep end is exhilarating! The shallow end is 4 feet deep, and the deepest point is seven feet deep. Around the pool and out on the beach are chaise lounges and sun chairs. And there is a serious stone and stainless steel charcoal grill to barbecue your favorites. Charcoal and lighter fluid are provided. Among the shady sea grape trees is a hammock and several more chairs. What a great place to enjoy the view! And there are a couple kayaks for cruising South Akumal bay. Last but not least, the rooftop observation area has a panoramic view over the Caribbean and is a wonderful place to see the Caribbean sunrise, sunset or just stargaze into the night with loved ones.
